How To Make Praying the Rosary Fun and Exciting For Children

By: Charrosh

Catholics have a very strong belief that the sighting of the Mother Mary in any form is one of the most powerful things they can have happen. Mary is believed to give the prayer it’s huge following around the world and people still continue to use it today. Praying the rosary is an art form and one that Catholics teach their children from a very young age. There are specific rosary beads which children are often given for their first communion or christening, which in most cases they use and cherish for life.

The rosary literally translates to rose garden in Latin and is made up of the rosary bead prayer and the actual prayer. Many people combine the vocal prayer in either silent form or spoken out loud, alongside positive thinking and mediation. Children will be taught both of these elements and very quickly they will pick up exactly what they have to do. The Lord's Prayer needs to be repeated over and over which is then followed by ten Hail Mary’s and then one single prayer of Glory is to the father. Although there are many different types of rosary beads, the prayers are always the same and are the same for children as well as adults.

Rosary beads are an ideal way to keep track of the rosary bead prayer. You will be able to remember the number of Hail Mary's you have completed and ensure that you don’t miss any. As your fingers move over the rosary beads you are counting the prayers without having to keep count in your head. This is particularly good when trying to teach children the sequence to praying the rosary, as they will tend to forget how many they have said when first learning the sequence.

There are many different styles and types of rosary beads to choose from and the children's ones will often come in a box to be given as a gift. All rosaries have the same concept and whether they have larger beads or smaller more delicate ones they will all signify decades. You can find beads which are made from different materials including silver, bone, glass and wood. The design that you choose for your child is entirely up to you. Often it will depend on your taste and budget. If the rosary beads are due to be a gift then you might spend slightly more to ensure you get a quality rosary that will last a lifetime.

There are many places where you can purchase quality rosary beads online. Choose a unique rosary and personalize it for the person whom your buying it for. As an example, you could purchase a birthstone rosary which is made with the beads of month the child was born, or buy a rosary that is made with the child’s favorite colored beads.

By doing so, the child will feel a closer attachment to the rosary and they will cherish it and fully understand the importance of the rosary bead prayer. Encourage your child to understand about praying the rosary and explain that it is a part of your faith. Every time you and your child prays, it will enable you both to become closer to your faith and your children with enjoy the quality time spent with their parents.
